Rock Garden Icon

Plant Type: Grasses

Red Silver Miscanthus features bold plumes of burgundy flowers rising above the foliage from late summer to late fall. The purple seed heads are carried on showy plumes displayed in abundance from mid fall to late winter. Its grassy leaves are green in color with pointy white spines. As an added bonus, the foliage turns a gorgeous gold in the fall. The tan stems can be quite attractive.

Green leaves with orange-red fall color; seed heads have pink-to-red tones which contrast nicely with the silvery plume.
