Plant Type: Hostas

Doug Beilstein combined genetics from Mary Chastain’s world-class “Lakeside” breeding stock and one of the most intense blues yet created, Bev and Dave Stegeman’s ‘Skylight’. The result is this incredible, waxy blue plant. ‘Jet Black’ has round, gently cupped, and lightly dimpled leaves that are so waxy, the center vein appears nearly white. Doug chose the name, because late in the summer the blue gives way to a deep, black-green color. Hosta ‘Jet Black’ is a vigorous grower that forms a distinct mound about 24″ tall and 48″ across. Fertile, near-white flowers bloom in mid summer.
