Hosta ‘Gunther’s Prize’ is a slow-growing, non-registered sport of H. ‘Sum and Substance.’ It has many of the same characteristics as its parent plant but with heavily mottled yellow, chartreuse, and green foliage. The clump is a very large size growing to 26 inches in height with a spread of around 56 inches. Its thick leaves are broadly oblong-ovate, deeply lobed at the base, and have a distinct tip. Its pale lavender flowers bloom from late July into August.
