Plant Type: Perennials

Exquisitely double pleated flowers of purple-blue and white,  so beautiful that as they hang they resemble a ballerina's dress. Wonderfully formed, the pleats so precisely laid they transfix you when they appear during late spring. Flowers summer.

Aquilegias are widely known for their love of shady areas, but also do well in the sun, in moist, well-drained soil.  Use them for an early season cut flower; long lasting, up to two weeks.   Aquilegia is especially lovely when allowed to naturalize in shady, woodland borders.
