Plant Type: Daylilies

You’ll easily spot this daylily from a distance, with its gigantic red flowers perched like a big red bow atop a package of healthy green, vigorous foliage.

Officially classified as “unusual form-spatulate”, this spider type variant produces very distinctive, almost star-shaped, 8-9″, Christmas red blossoms early in the daylily season.  Christmas in summer!  A prominent gold throat bleeds out onto the diamond dusted petals.  The saturated color of the blossoms is sunfast, so they’ll have no trouble standing up to summer weather.

This one makes a terrific specimen in the summer garden!

Dormant tetraploid.

Daylilies can survive many harsh conditions that other plants cannot including: polluted city environments, slopes, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in winter, and under Black Walnut trees.
