Hardy Water Lilies

Hardy water lilies come in few color variations, but are hardy in our zone. They are not harmed by winter cold unless water is frozen solid around the crown.

Tropical water lilies will not withstand our harsh winters but are extremely rewarding to those who grow them. Tropical lilies come in almost any color. They grow fast, flower profusely and are easy to maintain. Tropical lilies need to be taken indoors for the winter or disposed of after a killing frost.

All lilies are useful in keeping water clean and fish cool during the summer. Depending on the variety, the recommended planting depth is 4″ – 3′. Most flourish at a depth of 9″ to 1′. Choose a location in full sun (minimum of six hours of direct sunlight) and away from moving water.
